Best suburbs to move to in Brisbane

The Queensland capital of Brisbane is a growing city for a reason.

Affectionately referred to as ‘Bris Vegas’, it offers an attractive outdoor lifestyle with plenty of sunshine and a subtropical climate.

It is a great base to explore everything that Queensland has to offer.

If you are looking to move to Brisbane, you are probably wondering which suburbs are best.

Here are some suggestions to consider.

BEST BRISBANE SUBURBS FOR FAMILIES

Coorparoo

Situated about 6 km south-east of the city centre, this family-friendly area features a good selection of public and private schools which are a major drawcard for many residents. There are also plenty of green spaces with parks and playgrounds, along with a variety of shopping and dining options. Coorparoo is well-serviced by public transport, via trains and buses.

Indooroopilly

About 8 km south-west of Brisbane, the riverside suburb of Indooroopilly has a reputation for being a great place to raise children. There are quiet streets throughout Indooroopilly, as well as excellent public and private schools. The area has lots of public outdoor spaces and the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre is one of Queensland’s largest retail destinations.

Carindale

About 13 km south-east of Brisbane, this area is a popular choice for families seeking a little more relaxed atmosphere but still having easy access to the city. There are good public and private schools, lots of parks and playgrounds and plenty of other family-oriented amenities including shops, leisure centres, cinemas and other entertainment venues.

BEST BRISBANE SUBURBS FOR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

Fortitude Valley

For those who want to be close to the action when it comes to nightlife, this is the place to be. There are great restaurants, cocktail bars, live music venues and pumping dance clubs. Fortitude Valley also has lots of boutique shopping opportunities and is only a short walk or bike ride away from the middle of Brisbane.

New Farm

A little quieter and more relaxed than the nearby Fortitude Valley, New Farm is another inner-city suburb popular with young professionals. Surrounded by the Brisbane River, it is home to lots of cafes and restaurants, while great nightlife is not far away.

South Bank

A central spot for enjoying all that the city has to offer, South Bank runs along the Brisbane River.

There is an iconic man-made beach with a lagoon pool and space to relax. The area also boasts great dining options, as well as being a cultural hub with the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, State Library of Queensland and Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art all nearby.

BEST BRISBANE SUBURBS FOR RETIREES
